– a mutual aid reflection
We aren’t waiting for the old world to fix itself.
We are planting tomatoes in the cracks, instead;
Building community with stories and sewing circles;
Feeding each other with calloused hands and open hearts.
They told us survival would be solitary,
But we know better.
You don’t have to march in the streets to be a part of this.
You can grow an extra row of carrots.
You can cook.
You can sew.
You can sing lullabies or write letters or share seeds.
You can offer your hands to work the skills you’re good at.
This isn’t a revolution of spectacle.
This is a revolution of care;
Of bread baked and shared;
Of herbs gathered and gifted;
Of skills passed down like heirlooms.
We are not just going to be surviving this.
We are dreaming a whole new world into being.
Thriving,
Together,
Fiercely.
We are doing this In every backyard garden,
Every crowded food pantry,
Every knitted scarf,
And every child who still believes in kindness.
We’re not broken.
We are becoming.
And we will begin… again.
