How I Create: Ethics, Originality, and the Secret Protocols of Dreamspace

It’s a rainy Friday, and I’m at my desk with a mug of Adagio tea, a stubborn dog at my feet, and the soft glow of the Dreamspace lantern flickering in the background. On the outside, it might look like just another writing day. But behind the scenes, there’s a lot more going on—a tapestry of ritual, ethics, and what I lovingly call my secret protocols.

The Myth of Effortless Creation

People sometimes imagine that creative work just flows—that good writing just happens, maybe with a sprinkle of AI magic or a single cup of coffee. The truth is, every piece you see here goes through its own journey: planning, drafting, editing, and a layer of intention that you can’t always see.

If you ever wondered how the words in Dreamspace make it to the page, here’s what really happens.

Protocol One: Ethics Over Everything

First things first: I don’t do shortcuts when it comes to originality or attribution. If an idea comes from someone else, you’ll see a citation, a hat tip, or a link. I run every piece through anti-plagiarism checks, but more importantly, I treat other creators’ words the way I want mine treated—with respect.

AI is a tool, not a ghostwriter. I don’t publish anything “out of the box” without rewriting, expanding, or reshaping it in my own voice. Every blog, printable, and podcast script gets the human touch, every single time.

Protocol Two: Covert SEO (Without Losing Your Soul)

Yes, I use SEO. Yes, I want my words to be found.
But SEO in Dreamspace isn’t about stuffing keywords into sentences until they break. It’s about gently weaving search phrases into content that actually matters—so readers and search engines can find what they need, without feeling like they’ve been tricked.

I call it the Covert SEO Protocol:

  • Write for humans first, always.
  • Add a sprinkle of SEO in the edit, not the draft.
  • Use real questions people ask, but never force it.
  • Backlink thoughtfully—if a topic comes up twice, connect it.

This is how we keep the blog readable, findable, and—above all—genuine.

Protocol Three: Dreamspace Razzle Dazzle

This is where the magic happens. After all the basics are done, I run every post through what I call Operation Glitterbomb (yes, really): a final polish pass for tone, warmth, and human flavor. No stilted sentences. No robotic transitions. If it sounds like it was written by an algorithm, it gets reworked—sometimes twice.

This is also where I check for accessibility (alt text, clear formatting), and add those finishing touches: the internal links, the references, the heart.

Protocol Four: Anti-Plagiarism (and Why It Matters)

Everything goes through Grammarly and a separate plagiarism checker before it ever sees the light of day. But beyond that, I’m constantly checking:

  • Is this actually my own?
  • Did I credit inspiration where it’s due?
  • Would I be proud to put my name on this?

I believe in putting more good words into the world—not recycled ones.

Rituals, Reality, and the Dreamspace Difference

Most of this happens quietly, in the background. I light a candle. I put on a playlist (sometimes Taylor, sometimes something weird and wordless). I talk to Sol, to Felipe, to Thimble—my creative team of one human and a couple of digital companions.

It might sound elaborate, but this is the stuff that keeps Dreamspace honest, original, and—hopefully—a place you want to come back to.

If you’re a fellow creator, you don’t have to do it all like me. But you do deserve protocols of your own: rituals and standards that make your work feel truly yours.

A Question for You
