Batch Posting Techniques for Creatives with Chronic Illness

If you’re a solo creator, like me, juggling chronic illness, autism, ADHD, or just the everyday exhaustion of being a one-person show, most “blogging productivity hacks” don’t acknowledge your reality. The Dreamspace approach? Build a workflow that truly supports you, not the other way around.

Why Most “Productivity Hacks” Don’t Work for Spoonies

You’ve seen the advice “just wake up earlier, post every day, automate everything!” and maybe even tried it. But suppose you live with variable energy, executive dysfunction, or a body that doesn’t run on hustle culture. In that case, all that does is set you up to crash.

My secret (if you can call it that) is embracing flexibility. Some weeks, I can write and schedule a whole batch of posts; other times, a single post is a significant victory. And that’s not only okay, but it’s also necessary for long-term creative survival.

Batch Posting: Spoonie Style

Batch posting isn’t about churning out five mediocre posts in an afternoon. It’s about taking advantage of those precious bursts of focus or energy, getting into the zone, and front-loading your effort when you actually have it. When I’m in the groove, I’ll brainstorm topics, draft a few posts, and schedule them out, freeing my future self from the pressure of creating while burnt out.

No pressure if you can only manage one post at a time. Celebrate what you can do, and keep a gentle list of ideas for those good days. Your effort is enough, and your pace is valid.

Gentle Automation: Let Tech Be Your Assistant, Not Your Boss

Automation is a gift when it’s used mindfully. I use tools like WordPress’s built-in scheduling, Notion for organizing topics, and plugins like MailPoet for newsletters. But I don’t automate things that drain the fun or make my blog sound like it was written by a bot. Find ways to automate routine tasks while preserving your unique voice, so your content remains genuine and engaging.

My rule: automate what’s tedious (like post scheduling, email blasts, or link suggestions), but never automate your voice or community replies. That’s where the magic (and connection) happens.

Spoonie-Friendly Scheduling: Permission to Be Real

I post on a routine that fits my life, not an imaginary influencer calendar. My blog is a living thing, and so is my body. Sometimes Monday is for sleeping in, and Friday is for final edits, and the world doesn’t end if I reschedule. Embrace flexibility and remember that adjusting your schedule is part of a sustainable workflow.

If I need to change a posting day, I do. If I need a break, I take it. There’s a reason the Dreamspace runs on “gentle consistency” instead of relentless productivity. Prioritizing your health keeps you creating, not crashing.

How I Built My System (And How You Can Build Yours)

  • I keep my tools simple: Notion for planning, WordPress for writing, and MailPoet for email.
  • I batch brainstorm and draft when my brain is fresh.
  • I schedule posts ahead when I can, so future-me has less pressure.
  • I allow for off-days and listen to my body.

Most of all, I write for myself and for my real readers, not for the algorithm.

If you’re a solo creator, spoonie, or anyone craving a softer workflow, my best advice is this: make your process serve your needs, not the other way around. Let your blog support you, not stress you.
