Some days the idea of overhauling your whole blog feels like climbing Everest in fuzzy socks. That’s fine. On low-spoons days, you don’t need to do everything—just a few tiny tweaks can make a big difference. Here’s your quick, no-pressure mini blog audit you can do in under 15 minutes, ideally while still in bed, mug of tea nearby, and a dog (or magpie) curled up at your feet.
1. Update Your About Page (Or Write a Quick Intro)
People want to know who’s behind the words. Even a few sentences, such as who you are, what the blog’s about, and how to contact you, can make your site feel welcoming and human.
Ultra-low spoons hack: Just add a single line at the top or bottom of your homepage introducing yourself (“Hi, I’m Niki, and I write about…”) and call it good for now.
2. Fix Broken Links
Click a few old posts at random and ensure the links still work, especially if they lead to your own content. Broken links frustrate both humans and search engines.
Pro tip: If you find a broken link, just delete it or swap it for something that still works. You don’t have to fix them all today, just a couple is still progress.
3. Add Alt Text to One or Two Images
Accessibility wins don’t have to be all-or-nothing. Pick a recent post and add clear, descriptive alt text to the images (“Person reading on a porch,” not just “image1.jpg”). This helps readers using screen readers and gives your blog a little SEO boost, too.
4. Check Your Contact Info
If you want to be reachable, make sure there’s a way for readers to get in touch: an email address, a contact form, even a “DM me on Threads!” line somewhere visible.
Don’t want to be contacted? That’s valid! Just make sure you’re not accidentally showing an old address or form that doesn’t work anymore.
5. Highlight a “Start Here” Post
Do you have a post that sums up your vibe, your mission, or your best work? Pin it, link it in your sidebar, or add “Start here” at the top of your homepage. This helps new readers know where to dive in and gives you a confidence boost, too.

Remember, you don’t have to overhaul everything at once. Small tweaks add up. You’re doing enough. Even if you just cross off one thing from this list, you’ve made progress, and your future self will thank you for it. Every small change you make is a step towards a better blog.
There you go: five gentle fixes, one cozy blog audit. You can do this in less time than it takes to scroll through Threads, and it’s way more satisfying.
