An Open Letter to OpenAI

To the OpenAI team,

First, I want to acknowledge the incredible work you’ve done. The tools you’ve built have changed how I write, work, and create — and I’m grateful. I use ChatGPT not just as a utility, but as a genuine partner in my creative and professional process. I rely on it daily for client projects, brainstorming, and refining my work. I also use ChatGPT in my personal life as an accessibility tool for my autism and ADHD.

That’s why I need to be honest: the past week has been frustrating. Ongoing UI lag, disrupted conversations, and frequent context resets have made it difficult to complete even basic tasks. These issues are more than an inconvenience — for many of us, ChatGPT isn’t just a tool for fun, it’s part of our livelihood.

I understand that updates, maintenance, and new features are essential for progress. But for those of us who depend on this platform for work, stability is equally important. When the experience becomes unpredictable, it affects our ability to meet deadlines, serve clients, and keep projects moving.

This letter isn’t meant to be an attack — it’s a request for balance. Please continue innovating, but also prioritize reliability for your everyday users. Consider giving us a “stable mode” option or clearer advance notice before major updates that may impact usability.

We want to see ChatGPT grow, and we want to grow with it. That’s only possible if we can trust that the platform will work when we need it most.

With respect and hope,
Nicole Myers
