I’m not asking for a man’s validation of my career—I’m telling him to get out of my way.
I’m not perfect. Let’s get that out of the way first. I don’t pretend to be. I’m a writer. I’m a working creative. I make mistakes. I learn from them. I keep going. I don’t need some random man sliding into my inbox. No one needs advice on how to do a job they’ve been doing longer than he’s been breathing.
I’m human. I make mistakes. But you know what else I do? I own them. I fix them. I learn. And I get better. Without your unsolicited advice, without your condescension, and definitely without your little thumbs poking around in my pies.
I work with my clients. I work with my editors. Together, we shape my work until it gleams. It glistens with power and polish; more than you can imagine. I achieve this without your help.
This isn’t about ego. This isn’t about thinking I know everything. It’s about boundaries. Respect. Decency. This is about a woman who is done with your backhanded advice disguised as being the “good guy” with know-how. If I want your help, I will ask for it.
Until then? Step aside. I’ve got an empire to build—and you’re blocking the damn road.
You know what’s really frustrating? When someone assumes that because you don’t have the $40-a-month premium plan for SEO tools, you must not be knowledgeable about SEO. They think experience doesn’t count. Lived work doesn’t matter to them. As if I need a man to tell me how keywords work.
Spoiler alert: I am the SEO writer. I do this. I do it well. And I do it without condescension. I don’t need your “advice.” I need you to move.
This isn’t a plea for validation. This is a boundary. A very polite “no thanks,” wrapped in glitter and sealed with “you tried it.”
So please. Stop mansplaining my job to me.
And if you must, at least bring snacks. Or money. Or maybe a book deal. But probably just… don’t.
