This past September, I finally stepped outside my usual circles of Maryland and made my way to Provincetown, Massachusetts — a place I’d dreamed of visiting for years. It wasn’t just a trip; it was a chance to reconnect with family, explore history, and soak in the unique creative energy of Cape Cod.
What I found was a town that feels like home in spirit: quirky, artistic, and endlessly alive. A place where eccentricity is celebrated, salt air clings to your skin, and every corner seems to hum with story.
I kept a day-by-day diary during my stay — raw, journal-style reflections with snapshots of meals, museums, beaches, and family moments. You’ll find them all linked below.
A person (Me) wearing sunglasses is lying down in front of a “No Smoking” sign, with a blue sky above and part of a building visible in the background.
A view of a historic village with thatched-roof houses, wooden fences, a dirt path, and greenery, set against a backdrop of trees and a body of water under a blue sky.
A wooden building with a thatched roof, surrounded by a dirt path and another building in the background, set against a blue sky with scattered clouds.
A woman (me) sitting under a beach tent, wearing sunglasses and a swimsuit, with a cooler and snacks nearby. A man is partially visible, looking at his phone. The beach and ocean are in the background.
A man (My cousin) sitting on the beach, wearing a cap and casual clothing, is using a smartphone while sitting on a beach blanket. He is surrounded by sand, a cooler, and beachgoers in the background.
A sandy surface with various objects arranged, including shells, stones, and a small pile of dark material, surrounded by circular patterns in the sand.
Me and my cousin are sitting on the sand at the beach, playing with a sand sculpture. The man is smiling and wearing a gray t-shirt and hat, while the woman is wearing a blue swimsuit and glasses. The ocean and beachgoers are visible in the background.
A small live music performance under a tent, featuring a singer, a female vocalist (Zoe Lewis), and a musician playing a double bass, with audience members seated in colorful beach chairs.
A commemorative stone plaque inscribed with “LAYING OF THE CORNERSTONE 1907 – 2007,” situated on grass with a stone wall and benches in the background.
Provincetown was the first trip I’d taken in years, and it left me with a heart heavier than my suitcase — in the best way. I’ll be back, someday. Until then, the Dreamspace continues: essays, Pantry Psalms, and Sparks to come.
Maybe you’ll find a bit of yourself in these entries. Or maybe they’ll inspire you to go searching for your own “Lakes” — the place where you feel fully alive.
