Day 2 – Family Adventures in Provincetown: Dining and Strolling

I woke up at 7 AM, feeling refreshed from a peaceful night’s sleep. I started the morning by working on my laptop, enjoying the tranquility of the early hours. As I was finishing up, Mom woke up, and I decided to head down to the kitchen for breakfast.

I savored a cup of coffee paired with a delicious blueberry muffin, and I couldn’t resist grabbing a few items from the charcuterie tray that remained from our cousin’s warm welcome the day before.

Since my cousin had to return to the city for work, we were joined by his partner, my cousin-in-law (is that a thing?), for the afternoon. It was a joy to spend time with them, sharing stories and laughter between our respective work sessions.

We took a stroll down what they call Commercial Row, a vibrant stretch filled with local shops and restaurants. We explored a few places and picked up some goodies, including a charming art print that would be perfect for my guest room.

For lunch, we stopped at The Canteen to grab sandwiches; my cousin-in-law enjoyed a mouthwatering grilled cheese, while I opted for a cod bahn mi, and Mom chose a classic hot dog.

After lunch, we made our way back, but Mom and I continued to a nearby park where we could sit and relax by the water and watch the doggos play.

Unfortunately, my cousin-in-law had to attend a few Zoom meetings.

Thankfully, both Mom and I felt content to keep ourselves entertained; there was plenty to do around us.

We returned back a couple of hours ago to unwind and take a breather, allowing me to sit down and write this update. I’m looking forward to sharing our evening adventures with you soon!

Following our afternoon excursion, Mom and I spent time in our separate sleeping areas to rest and decompress. Later, we had a snack of the remaining charcuterie board from the night of our arrival.

Once my cousin arrived home, we had some tasty adult beverages, well, most of us. I had water because I’m a boring person. I don’t generally drink much. Then we scampered off into the night, my mom, my cousin, his partner, and me in search of nighttime sustenance.

It was found at a small, casual establishment with good music and a bright red building, called The Squealing Pig Pub. I can’t remember what everyone else had. It was overwhelming with the volume of music, but the food was good. Fresh and hot! I had the fish sandwich. No regrets! Fresh haddock, crispy, hot, and the fries! The fries were excellent.

With our bellies full, we walked a bit, not realizing the time was so late, though my body was feeling it.

Finally, we made it back to my cousin’s house to settle in for the night. It wasn’t long after I had showered and lain down that I was out like a light, preparing to take on the world tomorrow.
