Let’s get honest for a second: most of the “jargon” people use in tech, SEO, business, or any expert field is not about making things clearer. It’s about gatekeeping. It’s about showing off, feeling smart, or keeping the “regular people” out. It’s dumb, and it keeps folks from learning skills they could actually use.
Why Is There So Much Jargon?
Because the experts want to protect their turf. Because industry lingo makes you feel like part of an exclusive club. Because the more confusing you sound, the more likely someone will pay you to “translate.” But here’s the thing: the concepts themselves are rarely complicated. It’s just people making them sound that way.
Jargon Isn’t a Test of Intelligence, It’s a Barrier
If you’ve ever felt “dopey” or “lost” reading about SEO, blogging, tech, or marketing, let me be absolutely clear: you are not stupid. You just don’t speak their made-up language. Jargon isn’t a measure of intelligence. It’s a fence. And if you’ve been on the outside, it’s not your fault. You are intelligent and capable, and you can learn these skills.
Why I Refuse to Use (or Gatekeep With) Jargon Here
I’ve taken the classes. I have the certifications. I still think half the terms are stupid. If you want to learn about SEO, web tools, analytics, or digital writing, you shouldn’t have to learn a new language first. If I use a term, I’ll define it, break it down, and show you how it works; no shame, no condescension, no ego. I’m committed to demystifying jargon for you, because I understand how it can be a barrier to learning.
Why It Matters, And What We’ll Do About It
The Dreamspace isn’t a gated community. If you want in, you’re in. So starting this Friday, I’m launching a series where I’ll break down one “WTF is this?” term, tool, or concept in plain language. Five minutes or less. Written, video, or both. No jargon, no gatekeeping, and always room for your questions.
If you ever feel lost, confused, or like you’re not “allowed” to know something, ask. There are no ridiculous questions here, only absurd fences. And I’m here to knock those down with you.
Coming soon: “WTF Is a KPI (And Why Should I Care)?”
